Scott has been a partner at the Brown Law Firm since 1998.  Scott has tried several jury cases in Montana’s State and Federal Courts, and has handled appeals in the Montana Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Scott is an experienced trial attorney with over 20 years of experience in several different areas of law including: civil litigation, property and casualty, products liability, insurance coverage, insurance defense, environmental litigation, FELA, personal injury, both plaintiff and defense, accounting malpractice, legal malpractice defense and other commercial cases.

Scott was admitted to the Montana State Bar in1987; U.S. District Court, District of Montana in 1988; Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1988; and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1996.  He is currently the Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit appointed by Federal District Judge, Richard F. Cebull.

Scott graduated from the University of Montana (B.A., 1984, J.D., 1987) Phi Delta Phi. He was a law clerk for the Honorable L.C. Gulbrandson of the Montana Supreme Court from 1987 to1988.

Scott is a member of the Yellowstone County Bar Association (Director, 1992-1995); Montana Defense Trial Lawyers (Director, 1994- 1996, 1998-1999); Editor, The Commentator, 1994-1999; Defense Research Institute; and National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.

In 2009, Scott was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Products Liability.  He has also been recognized in Chambers USA for his litigation experience.

Scott’s interests include: traveling, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, golf, football and spending time with his family.
